Friedrich Fröbel Museum

Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel (1782 - 1852) recognised play as the typical life form and major educational medium for children. He began to develop a multitude of toys to challenge children to build and experiment and thus stimulate their imagination, train their concentration and promote social relations. In the building where the museum is housed today, Fröbel put his educational concepts into practice in 1839 and invented the name of "kindergarten". At the authentic location, the exhibition presents his life, his educational programme and the history of the effects of his educational theory with the help of original exhibits.
