Ducal Tomb
Reduced-rate admissionThis tomb was built for the ducal family from 1824 - 1827 at the order of Grand Duke Carl August. Duke Wilhelm IV (1598-1662) and his descendants rest in the vault. In 1827, Schiller's remains were buried in the vault under the chapel and in 1832 Goethe was laid to rest here too.
