Goethe House

For almost 50 years Johann Wolfgang von Goethe lived in this Baroque town house, which was erected in 1709. In the study room the décor has been preserved unchanged. You can visit the work and living rooms of Goethe and his wife Christiane as well as the library, reception hall, art collection rooms and the garden.

Opening hours

January-March and 16th Oct. - December: Tues-Sun 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., closed on 24th December

April to 15th October: Tues-Fri, Sun 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Prior registration is recommended. Visitor numbers are limited on preservation grounds. Guided tours by prior appointment.
