The Elisabethenburg Palace was the residential palace of the dukes of Saxony-Meiningen, built in 1682-92. It is a three-wing complex with rooms from Baroque to neo-Renaissance and Classicism. Today, it is seat of the city council, of the Meiningen museums and the concert hall "Johannes Brahms". It also houses the former Castle Church. The Bibras building, the oldest part, is today the seat of the Max-Reger Music School, the Thuringian State Archive as well as the district and town archive.
