The Baroque three-wing complex Heidecksburg towers majestically above the old town of Rudolstadt. It was built in the second half of the 18th century on the rubbles of a Renaissance palace complex, which had burnt down in 1735. Until 1918 it was the residence of the counts of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. In its interior the palace holds architectural and cultural-historical treasures. Apart from the princely salons and festive halls you can admire an extensive collection of decorative porcelain, a picture gallery, the arms collection of the Schwarzburg munitions store, a historical library and further changing exhibitions. The majestic festive hall is one of the most beautiful of the German Rococo period.
