In 1836, His Highness Duke Bernhard II Erich Freund of Saxony-Meiningen bought the Landsberg estate and decided to build a castle on the hill where the ruins stood. No-one can picture a more attractive venue for choice dining or a Knight's Meal, whether in the richly decorated Knight's Hall or the rustic castle tavern. Clever designers have turned the castle's rooms and tower chambers, elaborately decorated with wall and glass painting, into stylish and comfortable guest rooms and suites with four-poster beds.

Wedding at Landsberg Castle - romantic as Grimm's fairy tales

In the picturesque valley of the Werra, between the Thuringian Forest and the Rhön region, there is a jewel of a hotel, combining modern comfort with an historic ambience in an exceptional way. The wildly romantic setting of Landsberg Castle could have been specially designed for weddings with a special style and atmosphere. Whether with a champagne reception and canapés or coffee and cakes in a picturesque setting, a buffet meal, Thuringian barbecued specialities with fireworks and torchlight at night or a programme of musical entertainment of all kinds - you will feel you have gone back in time to the days of royalty!
