Weberstedt is a national park community situated directly below the eastern edge of the Hainich range, making it the closest community to the National Park. There are two restaurants in the village both of which serve good traditional food, there is also a bed & breakfast hotel and a mini-golf and tennis court. During the summer months the outdoor pool is a great attraction for old and young. Vachstedt is a village with an outstanding quality of life, not only due to its attractive appearance with clean streets, carefully restored timber-framed houses and well-kept parks. The Goldacker Palace is the historically most significant building in the village and this has a close association with the Hainich National Park, since it is planned to convert it into an Environment Education Centre with integrated hostel for young people and ramblers. The palace park with its remarkable ancient trees is the starting point of the new event trail, leading into the National Park and connecting many other fine walks and hikes.
